President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo watched a Javanese Wayang Kulit (Leather Shadow Puppets Show) entitled “Gatot Kaca Winisudha” performed by Shadow Puppet Master (Dalang) Nyai Dwi Puspita Ningrum, at the Purworejo Square, Central Java, Thursday (29/8).

Upon arriving at the square, the President was welcomed by Regent of Purworejo Agus Bastian. The event began with an introductory remarks from the Regent, followed by performance from Didi Kempot, a popular singer of the campur sari (a blend of traditional Javanese and modern music) genre. Afterwards, President Jokowi handed over Gatot Kaca puppet to the Dalang to start the shadow puppets show.

Midway through the show, Kirun, a famous comedian from East Java, also performed a comedy show.

After attending the show, President Jokowi was slated to leave Purworejo for Magelang to continue his working visit in Central Java. (RSF/JAY/ES)
