President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has received full report from Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Deputy Chief of Indonesian National Police, Commander of Indonesian National Defense Force (TNI) and Head of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) related to efforts to control situation and restore security at the Mobile Brigade headquarters (Mako Brimob).

“Praise to God, the terrorist prisoners have all surrendered to the security force,” President Jokowi said in a press conference at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Thursday (10/5) regarding terrorist prisoners attack on security forces at Mako Brimob, Kelapa Dua, Depok.

The President expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people and the state to all security forces involved in restoring the security. On that occasion the President was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Commander of Indonesian National Defense Force (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Head of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan, Deputy Chief of Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri) Comissioner General Syafruddin, and Head of National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Suhardi Alius

On behalf of the people and the state, President Jokowi expressed his deepest condolences on the five fallen police officers. The President also expressed his hope that the families of the officers got the strengths to bear the pain.

The President has also ordered the Deputy Chief of Police to grant extraordinary rank promotion to the police officers who fell victim to the terrorists’ brutal action.

For the record, Security Operation at Kelapa Dua Branch of Salemba Detention Center, Depok, West Java, has ended on Thursday (10/5) at 07.15 after terrorist prisoners controlled the detention center for approximately 36 hours.

During the riot, the terrorist prisoners killed 5 Police officers, namely First Inspector Yudi Rospuji Siswanto, Brigadier Fandy Setyo Nugroho, First Brigadier Syukron Fadhli, First Brigadier Wahyu Catur Pamungkas, and Second Sub-Inspector Denny Setiadi.

Four other members of the police force were wounded and a terrorist prisoner, Benny Syamsu Tresno, was killed while trying to seize the officer’s weapons. (UN/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
