President Jokowi Welcomes Agus Yudhoyono at Merdeka Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (2/5) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, met with Commander of the Democratic Party Joint Task Force (Kogasma Partai Demokrat) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, son of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

“The atmosphere was good during the meeting, I am glad that we could meet again,” Agus told journalists after the meeting.

Agus added that he and President Jokowi agreed that Indonesia should become a developed country in the future. “We must continuously maintain the spirit of democracy through a positive discussion for a brighter future of Indonesia,” he said.

Agus went on to say that during the meeting they also discussed post-election political situation, while expressing hope that after the election all people will remain calm and be more tolerant in embracing different political choices. He also called on the people to wait for the official result to be announced by the General Election Commission (KPU) at the end of May.

“I hope that when the KPU announces the official result on 22 May, we will accept whatever the result will be.” Agus said, adding that all elements of the society can directly monitor the vote tally recapitulation of the presidential elections and legislative elections.

In the meantime, President Jokowi wrote about the meeting with Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono via his official Twitter account @jokowi and his Facebook fanpage.
