President Jokowi Welcomes ASEAN Leaders at Jakarta Convention Center

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomed the arrival of the leaders of ASEAN countries who will attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Tuesday (09/05).

The President, accompanied by First Lady Iriana Jokowi, was seen welcoming, shaking hands, and taking pictures with ASEAN leaders and their spouses at the main lobby of the JCC.

The President and First Lady standing in an area designed to look like a Kalimantan forest with a view of the Nusantara Capital (IKN). After being greeted by the President and First Lady, the leaders of the ASEAN countries were escorted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi to sign a guest book.

The first to arrive at the venue was Prime Minister of Lao Sonexay Siphandone with Mrs. Vandara Siphandone, Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet with Mrs. Pich Chanmony, Chairperson of the Delegation of Thailand Sarun Charoensuwan, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos.

Next were Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong with Mrs. Ho Ching, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim with Mrs. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao, and Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah with Prince Abdul Mateen.

In addition, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana also welcomed Prime Minister of Cook Islands Mark Brown in his capacity as Chairperson of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). Next were the President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin and Mrs. Rebecca Sultana. The President of Bangladesh was present in his capacity as Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
