President Jokowi Welcomes ASEAN Leaders in Forest-themed Area
During the opening of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, Indonesia as the host displayed the grandeur of its tropical rainforest in the venue’s lobby where President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi welcomed ASEAN leaders and partner countries.
Indonesia always has a unique way to welcome its guests in international events. The branding and beautification of the venues are carefully prepared as part of the efforts to design experiential branding to all participants and invited guests in order to strengthen Indonesia’s nation branding in the eyes of the international communities, including at the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
Using s big screen that displayed the Nusantara Capital (IKN) as a background, President Jokowi and the First Lady welcomed, greeted, and posed for a picture with state leaders.
Visual Creative Consultant of the 43rd ASEAN Summit Elwin Mok said that the welcoming area gave strong first impression of Indonesia to the guests, which is expected to bring positive impacts to the organization of the Summit.
“It reflects commitments of Indonesia and ASEAN as the epicentrum of growth, which is in line with this year’s theme ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth’, in preserving the nature and ecological balance for a better future,” he said.
He went on to say that strong cooperation among ASEAN countries is like a spring that will continue to nourish the growth of the world.
In the meantime, a decorator of the venue Dina Touwani said that the beautification of the venue for the 43rd ASEAN Summit followed the success story of the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022.
“During this year’s ASEAN Summit, we want to present a beauty, without major changes in the building structure. The idea is to create an indoor jungle,” she said.
Having the Nusantara Capital as the background, the venue reflects Indonesia’s future that prioritizes sustainability of nature and green environment.
On that occasion, she also thanked floriculturists in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bogor, and Lembang for supplying flowers and plants used to create the indoor tropical rainforest.
“We make this rainforest as natural as possible. In this rainforest, we also highlight Indonesian orchids,” Dina said.
