President Jokowi Welcomes Dignitaries from China, Saudi Arabia

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex on separate occasions on Sunday (18/8) received Deputy Prime Minister of China Sun Chunlan and Vice President of the General Sport Authority of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz ibn Turki Al-Faisal – who represents His Majesty King Salman in the Asian Games.

Head of Bureau for Protocol, Press, Media and Information Affairs of Presidential Secretariat Bey Mahmudin said that President Jokowi expressed gratitude to Sun Chunlan for China’s support in 2018 Asian Games, in which China sends the largest number of delegates and expressed optimism that China’s participation will contribute to the success of the Asian sports event.

On a different occasion, President Jokowi also expressed gratitude to Prince Abdulaziz ibn Turki Al-Faisal for attending the opening ceremony of Asian Games as well as for support from Saudi Arabia in the Games. “I wish the best of luck for all Saudi Arabian athletes competing at the Asian Games,” the President said.

President Jokowi also raised the issue of more than 200,000 Indonesians who will go on hajj pilgrimage this year.  “I hope that this year’s Hajj pilgrimage will run smoothly.” the President said.
