President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (19/7) at the State Palace met with the Indonesian Scout Movement Contingent that will take part in the 24th World Scout Jamboree.

The event will be held between 27 July and 2 August 2019 in West Virginia, The United States.

Chairman of the Indonesian Scout Movement Budi Waseso reported that the contingent consists of 80 personnel; including 67 participants aged 14-17 years and the contingent leaders and officials.

“The contingent will join 45,000 participants from more than 150 countries worldwide. The camping will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, a United States Scout’s camping ground located within West Virginia National Park,” Budi said.

This year’s World Scout Jamboree adopts the theme of “Unlock a New World”.

“The theme is expected to encourage the participants to unlock their abilities for their future,” Budi added.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also handed over the national flag to the head of the contingent before delivering his remarks.

Also present during the event were Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Chairwoman of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Sri Adiningsih, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, and Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi. (FID/RAH/ES)
