President Jokowi Welcomes Malaysian PM at Merdeka Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomed Prime Minister of Malaysia Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday (5/2).

Upon the arrival at the Palace, marching band, cavalry, as well as personnel of Presidential Security Details (Paspampres) escorted the cars of PM Muhyiddin Yassin and his entourage.

President Jokowi and his Malaysian counterpart also took part in an official welcoming ceremony where national anthem of both countries were played. On that occasion, both leaders introduced their respective delegation. President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Head of State Protocol Andy Rachmianto.

After taking a group photo and a guestbook signing by Malaysian Prime Minister, the President and the Prime Minister had a bilateral meeting by adhering to strict health protocol.

In that meeting, both leaders are slated to discuss various issues including bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues. Afterwards, they will give a joint press release and perform Friday prayer at Baiturrahim Mosque.

For the record, PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s visit to Indonesia was his first state visit after being inaugurated on March 2020. (TGH/UN) (RAS/LW)
