President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (07/13) at Merdeka Palace hosted Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the period of 2017-2022.

On that occasion, Chairperson of the OJK Board of Commissioners Wimboh Santoso expressed appreciation for President Jokowi’s leadership in issuing strategic policies, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Thanks to the President’s direction, Indonesia could handle the pandemic quite well. We received enough vaccines and distributed them quickly so the people’s mobility was not constrained due to the outbreak of the virus,” Wimboh said.

In the last two years, he added, the world has been facing the pandemic’s unpredictable conditions; yet, the Indonesian Government managed to tackle the pandemic and achieve herd immunity.

“People can resume their activities as shown by the country’s economic growth at 5.1 percent year-on-year (yoy) in the first quarter of 2022,” he said, while expressing gratitude for President Jokowi’s leadership in maintaining the national economic stability through strategic policies issued by the Government.

“We’ve also been creating a good synergy between Finance Ministry’s fiscal policies and Bank Indonesia’s monetary policies so we can provide a policy orchestra that brings a positive impact on the stability of the Indonesian financial system,” he added.

For the record, the term of office of the OJK Board of Commissioners members for the 2017-2022 period will expire this year. Therefore, Wimboh expressed hope that members of the next Board of Commissioners will continue to maintain financial system stability in Indonesia.

“The OJK policies will certainly continue to contribute to national economic development, especially in supporting MSMEs to become drivers of our economy,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF/EP)
