President Jokowi Welcomes Palestinian PM at Bogor Presidential Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (10/24) received a state visit from Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad I.M. Shtayyeh at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java province.

The official welcoming ceremony, which was held at front yard of the Bogor Presidential Palace, was started by listening to the national anthem of both countries and introduction of delegates from both countries.

Afterwards, President Jokowi and PM Shtayyeh carried out a veranda talk followed by tree planting of Meranti (Shorea).

After the Meranti planting, the two leaders hold a bilateral meeting. In his remarks, President Jokowi stated that Indonesia will continue to support Palestinians’ struggle.

“Palestine is a close friend of Indonesia; Palestine was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Indonesia. Indonesia consistently continues to support the struggle of the Palestinian people, and I hope His Excellency’s visit can further strengthen this good relation,” he remarked.

Also attending the event were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, and Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Penny Lukito. (DND/AIT/UN) (GWH/LW)
