President Jokowi Welcomes President of Federated States of Micronesia at Bogor Presidential Palace

President Joko Jokowi Widodo received President of the Federated States of Micronesia Peter M. Christian at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Wednesday. President Christian and his entourage who were visiting Indonesia in a state visit arrived at the Bogor Presidential Palace at 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, and are welcomed by the sounds of gondang (drums) originated from South Tapanuli.
Upon the arrival, marching band, cavalry, as well as personnel of Presidential Security Details (Paspampres) wearing traditional clothes escorted the cars of President of the Federated States of Micronesia and his entourage. Not to mention, schoolchildren dressing in traditional clothes also lined up and waved flags of the two countries.
President Jokowi warmly welcomed the arrival of President Christian at the Palaces front yard. Both Presidents also took part in a state ceremony. On this occasion, national anthems of both countries were reverberated, interspersed with 21 thumps of cannon.
Then, both leaders walked on red carpet to inspect the presidential security guards and saluted flags of the two countries.
Furthermore, after signing a guestbook, taking a photo together and having a veranda talk, President Jokowi invited President Christian to plant an ironwood tree (Eusideroxylon zwageri) at the Palaces backyard.
The event then followed by a bilateral meeting, a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and a joint press statement.
Also accompanied the President on the event were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita.
