President Jokowi Welcomes Ramadan 1439 Hijri

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomes the holy month of Ramadan 1439 Hijri, which starts from 17 May 2018 this year.

“Marhaban yaa Ramadan (welcome Ramadan) 1439 Hijri. Fasting is a medium to reach piety (taqwa) and to avoid evils and wrongdoing -Jkw,” the President said on his Twitter account @jokowi, Wednesday (16/5).

On the first night of Ramadan, President Jokowi and his Cabinet performed taraweeh prayer at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta.

On another occasion, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung delivered his remarks on welcoming Ramadan 1439 Hijri. In his remarks, Pramono wishes all Muslims in Indonesia to observe fasting in good faith and full of joy.
