President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (09/22) witnessed the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Pertamina Sustainable Energy Center between the state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina and the Authority of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) in the IKN area, North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province

On that occasion, President Director and CEO of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati said that the signing of the MoU aims to support the Government’s goal to reach net zero emission by 2060.

One of the challenges to manage natural resources in Indonesia, Nicke continued, is a technology considering that Indonesia abounds with natural recouses and has great market potential.

“To that end, it is vital to have a technology that can process our own natural resources in order to be optimized by our people,” Nicke said.

In addition to technology, she further said that the preparation of the qualified human resources who can master knowledge of renewable energy and future energy is needed. Thus, the improvement of the human resources is also necessary.

Furthermore, Nicke expressed her hope that the Pertamina Sustainbale Energy Center can be immediately realized. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (AP/LW)
