President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo instructed small and micro traders to truly utilize the working capital assistance provided as additional working capital, instead of unnecessary desires such as mobile phones or phone credit.

Furthermore, the President invited the traders to maximize their efforts on the economy. He acknowledged that all layers of the society felt the impact of the COVID-19, including small, medium, and large businesses.

“This COVID-19 problem is a health matter but it also hit the economy, so everyone is affected, be it micro, small, medium, or large (business),” President Jokowi stated at the Distribution of Working Capital Assistance, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/7).

The same issue, the President added, occurred to traders at the markets, malls, airports. He also emphasized that 215 countries in the world also experienced the same issue.

“Thank God, we are thankful that we can still sell even though the turnover dropped, we have to face this situation. Therefore, I ask you to continue to work hard so that the turnover can be gradually increased,” the President stated.

On the occasion, President Jokowi distributed Rp2.4 million assistance to each trader who was present. The assistance will also be given to 12 million micro and small businesses throughout Indonesia.

The President reaffirmed that the assistance provided must be used for additional working capital, such as additional grocery items in the grocery stall. (HIM/EN)
