President Jokowi: Youtefa Bridge is New Icon of Papua
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated Youtefa Bridge, Jayapura, Papua Province, which serves as the new landmark and icon for Papua, as well as infrastructure that will support the 2020 National Games (PON), which will be held in the Province.
“It is a proof that the Bridge brings many multiplier effects that benefit the people,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during the inauguration on Monday (28/10).
Therefore, the President expressed hope the people of Jayapura can join hands with Regional Government of Papua in maintaining cleanliness, security, and aesthetic aspects of the Bridge.
On that occasion, President Jokowi also instructed Provincial Government of Papua and Government of the City of Jayapura to make the best use of Youtefa Bridge in bring out the whole potentials of marine tourism in Youtefa Bay to bring more tourists to the Province.
“Seize the momentum to advance Papua, to make breakthroughs, to create human resources with high competences who can compete with other countries,” President Jokowi added.
For the record, Youtefa Bridge which was constructed for 4 years by using Rp1.8 trillion consists of three sections. The first section is access road spanning 9,950 meters, the second section is bridge ramp spanning 320 meters, the third section is bridge ramp towards Holtekam spanning 900 meters, while the main span of the bridge is 433 meters.
“The Bridge serves as a solution to population density in the city of Jayapura. With the Bridge the city can be extended to Skouw Border. The Bridge will also cut travel time from Jayapura to Muara Tami District and Skouw State Border Crossing (PLBN) by 70 minutes,” President Jokowi said. (DND/GUN/ES)
