President Jokowi’s Message to People in Battling COVID-19

President Jokowi when delivering message through Youtube Channel of Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau, on Friday (10/4)

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed deep appreciation and respect, as well as gratitude to doctors, nurses, and medical staff who are on the front line in the fight against COVID-19.

The President added that currently 209 countries including Indonesia are facing enormous challenge which is unpredictable.

“It is such a tough period for us. The COVID-19 pandemic brings sadness to some people and difficulties for many people. Our daily lives have also changed because of it,” the President said when delivering message to all Indonesian citizens through Youtube Channel of Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau, on Friday (10/4).

In the same video message, he also appreciated personnel of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and volunteers for their great service and sacrifice.

The President also thanked the public for staying at home because this act can break the COVID-19 transmission chain and save more people. He called on the public to join hands in battling the pandemic.

“We are not alone, we are on the same page as many other countries that are striving to battle the pandemic. Please be patient, optimistic, and be disciplined to stay at home,” President Jokowi explained.

He also remind the public to maintain physical distance during interaction with other people, to avoid crowds, wash hands frequently, and to wear mask when going outside. If we are discipline in doing that measures, he added, we will eventually back to our routines.

“We will eventually meet with friends, relatives, families, neighbors in normal situation. But in this period, let’s stay at home,” he said. (EN)
