President of Germany Arrives in Jakarta to Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Indonesia

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs. Elke Büdenbender arrive in Jakarta for a state visit to Indonesia on Monday (06/15).

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and spouse Mrs. Elke Büdenbender arrived in Jakarta for a state visit to Indonesia on Monday (06/15).

The aircraft carrying President Steinmeier landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at approximately 09:20 Western Indonesia Time.

Upon arrival, President Steinmeier and spouse were greeted by several officials from both countries. Among those were Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Indonesia Ralf Beste, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany Abdul Kadir Jailani, and German Defense Attaché Colonel (GS) Marcus Thiel.

The welcoming ceremony was conducted solemnly with the presence of an honor guard standing along the welcoming pathway. The honor guard is part of the official tribute to the head of state conducting a state visit to Indonesia.

President Steinmeier then proceeded through the honor guard accompanied by drum music. Additionally, he was also welcomed with a traditional Indonesian dance. This welcoming series reflects the close friendship and bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Germany that continues to develop in various fields.

After the welcoming ceremony, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the delegation were scheduled to proceed to Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to meet President Prabowo Subianto. (BPMI) (EST/AW)
