President Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Economic Cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto on Friday (30/10) participated in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit at Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. His presence marked Indonesia’s commitment to actively participating in further strengthening the economic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region that is inclusive and sustainable.

President Prabowo arrived at the venue around 09.36 local time and was welcomed by Head of the Planning and Management Department of APEC Preparatory Office for APEC 2025 Kim Ji-joon, to move forward to the main floor of the meeting room on the third floor.

On the main floor of the meeting room, President Prabowo was welcomed by President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung in a warm and respectful atmosphere. The two leaders then took photographs as a symbol of friendship and partnership between Indonesia and South Korea.

At the Summit, President Prabowo and other APEC leaders participated in APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) with a theme “Towards a More Connected, Resilient Region and Beyond”, which highlighted the importance of further strengthening connectivity, economic sovereignty, and inter-regional collaboration.

In this session, President Prabowo was scheduled to share his views and ideas on Indonesia’s strategic measures to develop the Asia-Pacific region that is connected, innovative, and prosperous. The President presence at the Summit marked a momentum as the forum represents 60 percent of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and more than a third of the global population.

The Summit is an important forum for Indonesia to strengthen its role in the regional economy. Joining the President at the first session of AELM was Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/LW)
