President Prabowo Affirms Just and Ethical Law Enforcement for Common People

President Prabowo Subianto affirmed the importance of a just and ethical law enforcement grounded in integrity and guided by conscience. His remarks were delivered during the ceremony of witnessing the Handover of State Loss Recovery Funds amounting to Rp13,255,244,538,149.00 in the criminal corruption case related to the granting of export facilities for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and its derivatives from the Attorney General’s Office to the Ministry of Finance, on Monday (20/10), at Gedung Utama Kompleks Kejaksaan Agung, Jakarta.
On his remarks, the President conveyed his appreciation to members of the Attorney General’s Office for hardworking and bravery to return the money of the state loss. At the same time, he also reiterated that the spirit of law enforcement must be guided by humanity and social justice, particularly for common people.
“Do your best for your nation, state, and people. Wealth obtained by sacrificing our people is forbidden. Dishonest earnings will ultimately bring harm to anyone and their family,” the President confirmed.
President Prabowo also emphasized that fair law enforcement must be implemented. Law enforcement officials, be they prosecutors, police, or judges, were urged to act with their conscience and avoid any actions that disadvantage the poor and vulnerable.
”Law enforcement officials must have heart to avoid being merciful to the elite, ruthless to the common people. That’s injustice, cruelty, and wickedness. The poor and vulnerable must be defended and helped,” the President affirmed.
Moreover, President Prabowo also reminded all businessmen to avoid defrauding the state. He confirmed that the Government would take firm action to any kinds of law violations detrimental to the public.
“If the greedy businessmen think that they can defraud the state, Indonesia, repeatedly, we will show them that the Government still exist, stay strong, and we are committed to defending our sovereignty for the welfare of our people,” the President further said.
The President assessed that the handover of state loss recovery funds amounting to Rp13.25 trillion was a good signal coinciding with his one-year administration. He then urged all sectors of the nation to come together to safeguard our national resources.
“Indonesia is a wealthy country. If we can manage our resources in a good and courageous manner, I believe that Indonesia will soon emerge,” the President remarked. (Bureau for Press and Media of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (GA/LW)
