President Prabowo Affirms People’s Voices Will Be Heard, Followed Up by Gov’t
President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (08/31) urged the public to remain calm and trust the Government, stressing that all political parties, both within the coalition and outside the Government, are united in fighting for the people’s interests.
“My fellow Indonesians, I strongly urge all citizens to trust the Government and remain calm. The Government under my leadership, in cooperation with all political parties, including those outside the Government, remains committed to defending the interests of the people and the nation, particularly the most disadvantaged,” President Prabowo said in a press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
The President stated that the Government respects peaceful aspirations from the people, and any demand presented properly will be heard, recorded, and followed up by the Government.
“To all citizens, please share your aspirations and demands properly and peacefully. Rest assured, we will pay due attention to, record, and follow up them,” the President said.
The Head of State also called on the House of Representatives (DPR) to open dialogue with community leaders, students, and various civil society groups.
According to the President, bringing aspirations directly to parliamentarians will reinforce political communication.
“I will ask the DPR leadership to directly invite community leaders, student representatives, and figures from groups wishing to express their aspirations, so that they can be properly received and involved in direct dialogue,” he explained, while reminding the public not to be easily provoked by parties seeking to disrupt national stability.
On that occasion, the Head of State highlighted the importance of safeguarding national unity through the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong).
“Let us safeguard our national unity. Indonesia is on the brink of revival. We must not allow ourselves to remain divided. Voice your aspirations peacefully, not through violence, looting, rioting, or damaging public facilities,” he firmly said.
“Once again, our ancestral spirit has always been gotong royong. Let us join hands to protect the environment, ensure the safety of our families, and defend our homeland,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RIF/TM)
