President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the courage of businesspeople to take initiative and assume risks in developing Indonesia’s national electric vehicle (EV) industry. The President conveyed his appreciation during the launch of the National Electric Motorcycle (MoLiNas) and its supporting ecosystem at the ALVA Production Facility in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Thursday (8/13).

“I believe this is something we should appreciate. So, I congratulate all of you who have the courage to take this step. Taking initiative requires courage because initiative comes with risks,” said the President.

“We are proud today, and we will see even faster progress in the time to come,” he continued.

According to the President, the launch of the MoLiNas marked an important milestone in the development of Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of PT Indika Energy Tbk (an Indonesian private energy company), which has developed the electric motorcycle industry and reached a production capacity of 20,000 vehicles.

“Today, I am signing [this commemorative plaque] because the Indika Group has successfully produced 20,000 motorcycles. I told the Indika Group, if you reach 200,000, I will come again; and if you reach two million, I will come again,” he said.

On the occasion, the President also encouraged the strengthening of the national electric vehicle ecosystem through more affordable financing support for the public. The Government, he said, would prepare a purchasing scheme to make electric vehicles more accessible to the public.

“We will lower the installment interest rates and make them more affordable for the people. We will also try to eliminate the requirements to make down payment [in purchasing an electric motorcycle],” said the President.

In addition to electric motorcycles, the President said that the Government is currently developing a national electric car industry ecosystem in Subang Regency. “At Kilometer 84, we are currently building a large complex for Indonesian electric cars, and we hope that, by 2028 at the latest, it will begin mass production,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, the President called on all industry players to continue taking initiative and having the courage to face risks in order to build national industrial self-reliance. According to the President, there can be no success or victory without initiative and courage.

“The military has a motto saying “those who dare will win”. We cannot win by simply sitting and waiting for victory to come. Victory will not come. Victory must be fought for. We must seize it,” he stressed. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/TM)
