President Prabowo Arrives in Egypt to Attend Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit

President Prabowo Subianto, arrived at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport, Arab Republic of Egypt, on Monday (10/13), to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the Head of State and a limited delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, on Sunday (10/12)  at 00.20 Western Indonesian Time and landed in Egypt the following day at around 07.00 local time.

President Prabowo was welcomed upon arrival by Chamberlain of the Egyptian Presidency Mohammed Mokhtar, Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf, and Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Navy Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin. 

While in Egypt, the President is scheduled to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. On this occasion, President Prabowo is expected to witness the signing ceremony of a peace agreement and cessation of hostilities in Gaza.

The Summit is also expected to be attended by a number of world leaders, including: US President Donald Trump, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of French Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

President Prabowo’s participation in the Summit reflects Indonesia’s important role in promoting peace in the Middle East, particularly regarding the conflict in Gaza. It also underscores Indonesia’s continued commitment to upholding global peace and order, in accordance with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution.
