President Prabowo: As Face of the State, Civil Servant Present to Serve the People

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that a civil servant should always be there to serve and protect the people. He delivered this statement when he led the 2026 Inauguration Ceremony of Young Civil Servant of the National Institute of Public Administration XXXIII Batch at the IPDN Campus Parade Field in Jatinangor, Sumedang regency, West Java, on Wedneday (7/29).

“You are the people’s servant. You have to serve and protect the Indonesian people with your best services,” the President said.

In his remarks, the President appreciated the Young Civil Servant who directly took part in handling the disaster in Aceh for one month before they are officially inaugurated. He said the experience is a proof that civil servants are asked to be present in the society since the very beginning of their services.

“You are the civil servant that took part directly for a month in handling the disaster in Aceh. Before being inaugurated, you have been asked to help the people amid the people’s difficulties,” he said.

He affirmed that being a civil servant is not only about rank and position, adding that the pride of a civil servant is seen from the tangible benefit he gives to the people through his services.

“Our people do not need a complex bureaucracy. The people need civil servants who work honestly, are disciplined, clean, free from corruption, have the courage to make decisions, and are always there when the people need them,” said the President.

He further said that every civil servant represents the state among the people. Therefore, every attitude, action, and decision taken will determine the level of public trust in the state.

The President added that the people will directly feel it whether the state is truly present through the services provided by civil servants. Therefore, every decision made must always prioritize the interests of the people over personal or group interests.

“The people will feel it whether the state cares about its people or not, and from your decisions, the people will judge whether the state is worthy of their trust. That is challenge of the duties and responsibilities of a civil servant. Therefore, work to the best of your ability,” he said.

The President also reminded that the quality of the civil servants’ services will determine the strength or weakness of public trust in the state.

“If you work well, the people will trust and love their country more. However, if you disappoint the people, it is not only your reputation damaged, but also the people’s trust in the country,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/LW)
