President Prabowo Asserts Commitment to Nutrition Fulfilment, Economic Infrastructure Development

President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (07/21) asserted his commitment to accelerating the fulfilment of people’s nutritional needs as well as economic infrastructure development in all villages. The President made the statement at the launch of 80,081 Red-and-White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP/KKMP), which was held at Bentangan Red-and-White Village Cooperative, in Bentangan village, Wonosari district, Klaten regency.

“The fishing villages will be having storage with bigger freezers to save more fish and make more ice. In addition to storage, there will be outlets. An outlet for people to buy groceries. An outlet to save and loan money, which means state-owned banks could have branches in every village. They can provide super micro financing,” the President emphasized.

President Prabowo Subianto had also ordered [heads of village] to provide two operational vehicles, which include a truck and a pick-up vehicle or a smaller-sized vehicle, such as a tricycle motor, to distribute the villages’ crop yields.

“So, we no longer have rotten food. All the yields will be distributed directly to cities or markets,” he said.

President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of nutrition fulfilment, especially animal protein such as fish. He has set a target to enhance protein consumption by distributing fishery products effectively throughout villages.

“I hope fishery products distribution will reach all villages in Indonesia to enhance protein consumption. Every family and every child must consume [animal] protein at the right amount. We have calculated that one kilogram of fish priced at around Rp60,000 for market consumption or maybe lower,” said the President.

Furthermore, the President emphasized that the existing village fund should be optimized for cooperatives’ infrastructure funding. The President also underlined the importance of cooperatives’ management to be more professional. He also urged heads of village to monitor the implementation.

“The fund is available, one billion rupiah for one village. It has run for ten years. The challenge was when the one billion rupiah disappeared without a trace. So, for the heads of village, please, this is for the people,” President Prabowo concluded.
