President Prabowo Subianto led the great corn harvest of the second quarter of 2025, simultaneously followed by 36 regional police institutions, centralized in Bengkayang regency, West Kalimantan province, Thursday (06/05), to affirm the Government’s commitment to achieving technology-based food security and to modernizing Indonesia’s agriculture. On that occasion, the President used a corn harvester machine to harvest the crop.
Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Indonesian National Police Chief, said in his report that the great harvest is carried out simultaneously and covers a total area of 344,524.37 hectares within all regional police areas; with an estimated yield of 1.78 to 2.54 million tons of corn.
President Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the food security program, particularly to the Indonesian National Police Chief and all police institutions that have served as the main driving forces behind this great harvest. President Prabowo also emphasized that food security and sovereignty are the foundations of a nation’s true independence.
“Food self-sufficiency is the key to independence. No nation is truly independent if it cannot produce its own food. I repeat, no nation is truly independent if it cannot produce its own food. That is why, throughout my political career and dedication, I have always focused on this issue. I will keep striving for Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency,” the President said.
Moreover, the President underscored the importance of national synergy between the central government, regional governments, the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), academicians, and business communities in promoting technology-based food security. Through the use of technology in agriculture sector, President Prabowo expressed belief that Indonesia will not only achieve food self-sufficiency in corn but also become a global food estate.
“I believe Indonesia will not only achieve food self-sufficiency but also become a global food estate. We will help less fortunate countries, not because we want to show off our power, but we want other nations to see us with respect. We want to prove that Indonesia is a strong nation, a nation with a good heart, not a nation that causes trouble for others, but a nation that provides solutions for others,” he explained.
