President Prabowo Attends 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur

President Prabowo Subianto, Monday (05/26), arrived at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit.

Upon arrival at 08.35 a.m. local time, the President was welcomed directly by Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim at the KLCC grounds.

The two leaders immortalized the moment by taking a photo together with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers as the background. Afterward, President Prabowo headed to the waiting room to join other ASEAN member state leaders.

From the waiting room, President Prabowo and other heads of state entered the conference room. Throughout the walk, he engaged in conversations with President of the Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtran Shinawatra.

Prior to the plenary session, ASEAN member state leaders had a group photo session. The President stood between Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet and Prime Minister of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao.

At the 46th ASEAN Summit, which adopted the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” President Prabowo will speak in the plenary session, which will discuss ASEAN’s way forward, and also in the retreat session, which will discuss regional and international issues.

In addition to the Summit, the President is also slated to convene bilateral meetings with leaders of several friendly countries. His attendance stresses Indonesia’s strategic position as a leader in the Southeast Asian region, especially amidst global dynamics, and demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to reinforcing ASEAN solidarity.
