President Prabowo Subianto, Wednesday (15/10), attended the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025, held at The St. Regis Hotel, Jakarta. The international business forum, held for the 23rd time, is an important event for global economic leaders to strengthen networks, exchange views, and explore strategic cross-border collaborations.

This forum demonstrates that Indonesia is increasingly receiving positive attention as a prime destination for global investment opportunities. President Prabowo’s presence also provides a signal and confidence to international business players to invest and grow with Indonesia.

At the forum, President Prabowo spoke in a dialogue session titled “A Meeting of Minds” along with Forbes Media Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Steve Forbes. In the session, the Head of State emphasized the importance of implementing a mixed economic system that combines the best values of capitalism and socialism to support the people’s welfare and boost national growth.

In the beginning, the Head of State said that after returning from the United States, his father, an Indonesian economics expert, Soemitro Djojohadikusumo, became a figure who held a balanced view of the values of socialism and the importance of free enterprise.

“I asked, ‘Dad, what do you think is the best economic system?’ and he replied, ‘Actually, the best economic system for us, Indonesia, must be a mixed economic system. We must take the best from both capitalism and socialism,” said the President.

He said Indonesia’s future economic policy will strive to ensure that prosperity is not concentrated in a certain group but is equally felt by all levels of society.

“And I think, today this thought will become our focus,” he added.

Indonesia’s involvement in the forum underscores the government’s commitment to playing an active role in building a more inclusive and equitable global economic architecture. The forum, attended by approximately 400 participants, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, and investors from various countries, serves as an important platform to discuss the direction of the global economy amid evolving global dynamics.

For the record, this annual forum was previously held in Bangkok in 2024. The two-day event featured a number of speakers from various global industrial sectors, with the majority of participants coming from abroad, including Southeast Asia, Europe, China, Hong Kong, and the United States.
