President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (18/10) attended the Open Senate Session for the Inauguration of New Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students for the 2025/2026 Academic Year, as well as the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony and the 2025 Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of Universitas Kebangsaan Republik Indonesia (UKRI). The solemn event took place at the Trans Convention Centre, Bandung, West Java province.
The event began with the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya, and a moment of silence to honor the nation’s heroes. Afterwards, the Chair of the UKRI Senate officially opened the Open Senate Session, marking the start of the annual academic ceremony, an important moment for new students and graduates.
The event continued with a report from UKRI Rector Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and the reading of the decree on the admission of new students and the graduation of undergraduates for the 2025 academic year. Following this, President Prabowo symbolically presented pins to representatives of new students and the best graduates of 2025.
On this occasion, President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the well-organized and orderly event. He reminded the graduates that knowledge should not be used solely for oneself and that learning must continue throughout life.
“Learning must never stop. When you receive your degree, it does not mean you are already brilliant. Receiving your degree is merely the beginning of a long journey,” said the President.
Meanwhile, in his report, Rector Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that in 2025, UKRI graduated 521 students who had completed their studies in various disciplines. “This figure is not only a statistic, but a reflection of the perseverance, innovation, and spirit of cooperation that each individual beneath these maroon-black gowns has lived by,” said the Rector.
The Open Senate Session concluded with the graduation ceremony of UKRI’s 521 new undergraduates, marked by the presentation of certificates and congratulatory messages to the graduates. Finally, the Chair of the Senate officially closed the session. This graduation moment symbolized the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates to contribute to the nation’s development.
