President Prabowo Subianto received the “Nishan-e-Pakistan” award from the Government of Pakistan during an investiture ceremony held at the Iqbal Hall, Aiwan-e-Sadr, on Tuesday (12/09). This award was conferred upon President Prabowo for his significant achievements and extraordinary contributions in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the ceremony, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, personally bestowed this highest honor award upon President Prabowo.

The Nishan-e-Pakistan is the highest award in the Order of Pakistan, which was established on March 19, 1957. This award is presented to Pakistani citizens and foreign individuals who have rendered services of the highest distinction and made significant contributions at the national and international levels.

The honor bestowed upon President Prabowo reflects the Pakistani government’s recognition of Indonesia’s strategic role in the Indo-Pacific region and President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in defense, economy, and solidarity within the Islamic world.

The award also serves as a symbol of respect for the long-standing historical relationship between Indonesia and Pakistan, which dates back to the era of President Soekarno. It reinforces the strategic partnership between the two countries amid global geopolitical dynamics.

The award ceremony was attended by Pakistani ministers and members of parliament, as well as ambassadors from friendly countries. The presence of these officials reflects the high regard and strong friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia.

Some of the prominent figures who have received this award include King Abdullah II bin Hussein of Jordan, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam.

The award also underscores hope that cooperation between the two countries will continue to deepen in the areas of defense, economy, technology, food cooperation, and solidarity within the Muslim world. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/MMB)
