President Prabowo Calls For Extensive, Integrated Forest and Land Fire Mitigation

President Prabowo Subianto Monday (10/19) led a limited meeting on the mitigation of forest and land fires, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman, after joining the limited meeting, told the press that the President called for acceleration of forest and land fires mitigation at a massive scale.
He said that President Prabowo ordered related institutions to intensify aerial firefighting operations by deploying more helicopters to combat severe forest and land fires.
“The President also ordered the Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces to disperse dry ice pellets through Casa and Hercules aircrafts,” he said.
In addition to aerial operations, the President also called for deploying more personnel from the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and Forestry Agency, as well as encouraging greater community involvement in the fire mitigation efforts.
Dudung added that all related institutions should work together and take immediate concrete actions to speed up the efforts.
According to him, President Prabowo also underscored that rather than depending on rain to extinguish the fires, we should immediately take real actions by deploying all available resources.
“Therefore, the President emphasized that we should not wait for the rain to come, but must take immediate actions. He strongly urged us to ensure that fire mitigation efforts are carried out with utmost dedication and hard work,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MMB)
