President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/28) called on Israel to recognize the sovereignty of the Palestinian State.

“Indonesia has conveyed that once Israel recognizes the State of Palestine, we are prepared to recognize Israel and establish diplomatic relations. We also stand ready to contribute peacekeeping forces to the region,” President Prabowo stated during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta.

President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s consistent position across international forums that a two-state solution remains the cornerstone of a just and enduring peace. In line with this, he also stated that Indonesia will support the upcoming June summit organized by France and Saudi Arabia to advance the peace process.

“At the same time, I emphasize that Israel’s sovereignty and its right to security must also be acknowledged and guaranteed,” he added.

The President also expressed appreciation for France’s active role in advocating for justice and the independence of Palestine. He noted that Indonesia and France share a common vision in seeking an end to violence and ensuring broader humanitarian access in Gaza.

“France will continue to press for an immediate end to armed conflict in Gaza and demand full humanitarian access,” President Prabowo said.

Indonesia’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict reflects its constitutional mandate, as enshrined in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution. This mandate underscores the nation’s commitment to promoting a world order founded on freedom, eternal peace, and social justice. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/MUR)
