President Prabowo Subianto departed for Brasília, the capital city of Brazil, on Monday (07/07) for a state visit and a bilateral meeting with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The meeting was held at the Brazilian Presidential Palace, as part of the effort to advance strategic relationship between Indonesia and Brazil.

The Garuda Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft carrying President Prabowo and his entourage took off at 02.45 p.m. local time from Galeão Air Force Base, Rio de Janeiro, heading to Brasilia. President Prabowo was seen off by the Head of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office in Rio de Janeiro, Ambassador Marcia Maro, and the Vice Commander of Galeão Airforce Base Colonel Andrei.

The state visit to Brasília was conducted after President Prabowo participated in a series of meetings at the 2025 BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro. This state agenda demonstrates Indonesia’s active role on international stage, especially in strengthening bilateral diplomacy with friendly countries in the Latin American region.

The visit was also crucial for strengthening the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Brazil, which has been established for more than 70 years. Indonesia and Brazil have established a strategic partnership with great potential for developing trade relations and investment.

As Indonesia’s largest trade partner in the Latin American region, Brazil has reached several agreements with Indonesia in various sectors, including defense, energy, and agriculture. The state visit is expected to foster a deeper understanding in advancing both countries’ cooperation.
