President Prabowo Subianto held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, during his state visit to the Kingdom at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday (07/02). The meeting marked a strategic step forward in the relations between the two countries through the framework of the High-Level Coordination Council (HLCC).

During this state visit to Saudi Arabia, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) held a tête-à-tête, followed by a bilateral session attended by both delegations to discuss key issues of mutual concern.

The bilateral meeting also served as the inaugural session of the Indonesia–Saudi Arabia High-Level Coordination Council. On this occasion, both leaders signed the Minutes of Meeting (MoM) of the HLCC, which included the endorsement of the HLCC Governance Framework—an institutional reference point for the Council moving forward. This framework will be jointly coordinated by the respective foreign ministers of both countries.

The signing of the HLCC MoM represents a monumental milestone, solidifying Indonesia’s position as one of Saudi Arabia’s strategic partners in Southeast Asia. The HLCC format itself mirrors the strategic mechanisms Saudi Arabia has implemented in its relations with the United States and the People’s Republic of China.

The historic meeting concluded with a state banquet hosted by Crown Prince MBS in honor of President Prabowo. The visit stands as a significant milestone in Indonesia’s active diplomacy, reflecting a renewed direction within the geopolitical and economic landscape of the Islamic world.
