President Prabowo Subianto, on Wednesday (04/29), underscored the importance of developing a national downstreaming project that adapts to technological advancements and prioritizes the interests of the people.

During his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of the national downstreaming project at the Cilacap Unit IV Refinery in Central Java province, the President emphasized the importance of continuously evaluating every strategic project objectively and scientifically, in alignment with rapid technological advancements.

“I ask that we remain objective and scientific and proceed based on mathematical analysis. If this project, although we initiated this project and conducted a feasibility study a year ago, six months ago, recent technological developments may now provide more efficient and affordable solutions with greater public benefit. We must have the courage to adjust the plan,” the President said.

The President also ordered the Downstreaming Task Force and the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to continue reviewing the best technology options, prioritizing efficiency, and maximum benefits for the community.

“Continue to study and observe the technology. Mathematical, mathematical, mathematical. There are no other interests. What is most efficient and benefits the people is what must be implemented,” he added.

Furthermore, President Prabowo expressed great optimism for Indonesia’s future. He called on all elements of the nation to unite and maintain the direction of national development, including by strengthening downstream processing as a pillar of economic independence.

“We cannot remain a sleeping giant. We must rise, and we will rise. We will be a great nation,” he said.

President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of unity in diversity as the nation’s primary strength. He stated that differences should be a source of strength and not division.

“Differences are good, differences are our assets, and we must not allow them to become barriers. We cover each other’s shortcomings. We remind each other of our mistakes. We immediately correct any negligence. All of this is aimed at the good of the nation,” the President stated.

President Prabowo also stated, at the end of his speech, that stability and peace are essential foundations for a nation’s progress, amid the challenging global dynamics.

“Peace is very expensive. We must protect our nation,” the President concluded.

By leveraging cutting-edge technology and aligning with the interests of the people, Indonesia’s downstreaming industry is poised to become a new, efficient, modern, and sovereign growth engine, leading Indonesia to become a major global economic power. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/AW)
