President Prabowo Subianto departed Singapore on Monday night (06/16) after completing a two-day state visit to the country.

President Prabowo, accompanied by a limited delegation, took off from Paya Lebar Air Base at around 10:45 PM local time.

Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, as well as the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo and the Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Colonel Hendra Supriyadi sent off the President’s departure.

During his state visit, President Prabowo undertook several official agenda throughout the day. “On Monday morning, President Prabowo Subianto began his state visit in Singapore by attending the official welcoming ceremony at Parliament House. He was personally greeted by President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a statement.

President Prabowo then had the annual Leaders’ Retreat meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. During the meeting, President Prabowo described this year’s Leaders’ Retreat as a significant milestone marking a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

In addition, a special moment highlighted this state visit. President Prabowo had the opportunity to name a hybrid orchid “Paraphalanthe Dora Sigar Soemitro” as a tribute to his late mother.

“The orchid’s name was personally chosen by President Prabowo as a form of tribute to his beloved late mother, Dora Sigar Soemitro,” Teddy explained.

For the record, President Prabowo will continue his state visit to Russia to attend an invitation from President Vladimir Putin and to serve as the keynote speaker at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025.

“This state visit is a highly strategic one to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and partnership between Indonesia and Russia. It also demonstrates that Indonesia, as a major country, is increasingly recognized on the global stage, especially amid rising global challenges,” said Teddy. (BPMI) (EST/LW)
