President Prabowo Subianto firmly stated that education quality is the key point of a nation’s advancement. The Head of State said it in his remarks during the 2025 Commemoration of National Teacher’s Day in Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, Friday (11/28). He also emphasized that Indonesia has taken a clear political decision to put education as the main priority of national development.

“Indeed, a nation’s development, a nation’s awakening, and a nation’s success will be determined by the education quality of the nation. Therefore, every successful nation must invest massively in education sector, and indeed, Indonesian political elites have made a political decision to invest massively in education sector,” the President said.

According to the Head of State, the largest budget allocation in the State Budget is for education, exceeding the minimum limit of 20 percent as mandated by law. President Prabowo emphasized that the large budget must be well-targeted.

“In many countries, budget for defense is on top. If I’m not mistaken, in India, budget for defense is on top, the second one is for free nutritious meal. Education may be part of it, but in Indonesia, education sector has the largest budget,” the Head of State added.

President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia consistently chooses to put education as the highest priority. The Head of State reminded all the central and regional stakeholders to maintain their integrity in education budget management.

“I highly deem that education is important, so the money we save, the money resulting from our efficiency, we reallocate to prioritize education. This year, we were able to renovate only 16 thousand schools. As your President, I apologize for being barely able to allocate budget for only 16 thousand schools,” President Prabowo explained.

At the event, President Prabowo also expressed appreciation to all teachers in Indonesia for their dedication and hard work in enlightening the nation. The Head of State emphasized that education is the main key to realize an independent and advanced Indonesia.

“Only through education, we can really be an independent country. Therefore, on the National Teacher’s Day, once again, I expressed my appreciation and gratitude on behalf of Indonesian people to all the teachers in Indonesia, all the teachers from all school grades,” the Head of State remarked.
