President Prabowo shared his view that BRICS has been one of the important pillars for stability and hope amid challenging international geopolitical dynamics. The Head of State highlighted that multilateralism is currently facing a serious test, while the world continues to experience instability.

“It is a great honor for me to join this very important meeting. Indonesia sees BRICS as a very strong pillar for stability and hope amid the current international geopolitical situation,” President Prabowo said during the BRICS Leaders Virtual Meeting at his private residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Monday (9/8).

The President asserted that BRICS now represents more than 55 percent of the global population and over 40 percent of global GDP. BRICS now evolves  into a strategic power with the largest economies, the biggest populations, the biggest market, and abundant natural resources.

“BRICS has the largest economies, the biggest populations, the biggest market, and countries with vast natural resources and other important resources. Therefore, BRICS comes out as a pillar of force. Indonesia lends its support for the sustainability of this role,” President Prabowo stated.

Furtermore, the Head of State emphasized the importance of openness, coordination, and close cooperation in facing global uncertainty. The President deemed that BRICS has moral responsibility to be a driving force in creating a more equitable and balanced global order.

“Indeed, we should keep going and strengthen our cooperation. We should discuss more often,” President Prabowo firmly stated.

Through this active participation, Indonesia has shown its commitment to strengthen solidarity between BRICS countries and to promote a more inclusive, fair, and sustainable international cooperation. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (AW/MMB)
