President Prabowo Emphasizes Strategic Programs Integration for Accelerated Poverty Alleviation

Head of Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin), Budiman Sudjatmiko, in his press statement after a limited meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/12).
President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (2/12), led a limited meeting with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. One of the main issues discussed was a strategy to accelerate poverty alleviation through integration of various Government priority programs into an interconnected and mutually reinforcing ecosystem.
Head of Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin), Budiman Sudjatmiko, in his press statement, said that he reported to the President on the importance of integrating strategic programs so that the programs do not operate separately.
“We also ask the President to allow the BP Taskin to integrate his strategic programs, including Free Nutritious Meals, Fishermen Villages, housing programs, and other programs, so the programs can be coordinated one another as a single ecosystem. We conveyed this to him earlier, and he received the report,” Budiman told the media.
He said that the President’s directive emphasized the poverty alleviation to be carried out comprehensively and sustainably. Budiman also explained that strengthening people’s economic institutions is key to preventing those who have been lifted out of poverty from falling back into it.
“The President said that poverty alleviation is hard to achieve if institutions like cooperatives and Fishermen Villages are not strengthened because those who have been lifted out of poverty could fall into poverty again,” he said.
Budiman said further that BP Taskin also delivered several suggestions to the President to ensure that these various programs are not only institutionally strong, but also financially and productively empowered. This is crucial so that the benefits are received directly by the community and its members.
“We also recommend ways to strengthen Fishing Villages, cooperatives, and other programs financially and encourage productive activities, so that the community and its members can receive the benefit. We submitted several proposals and discussed them with the President. The President will provide further directives. We’ll just have to wait for it,” he said.
In the limited meeting, the Government discussed its policy direction in developing a more integrated poverty alleviation strategy, allowing priority programs into a national development ecosystem focused on empowering the people’s economy and improving welfare sustainably.
