President Prabowo Emphasizes Strengthening of TNI-Polri to Address Modern Security Challenges

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of enhancing the professionalism of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in facing evolving global security challenges. This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman after attending the President’s briefing inviting 800 high-ranking TNI and Polri officers across Indonesia at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/7).
The Coordinating Minister said that during the briefing, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the contributions of TNI and Polri in supporting government programs.
“The President expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the TNI and Polri in supporting government programs in food and energy security as well as maintaining national security,” he said.
Besides expressing his appreciation, the President also focused on strengthening the human resources within the TNI and Polri. Minister Dudung further explained that the recruitment system ahead must consider the intellectual abilities of prospective soldiers and police officers.
“We have to arrange the system professionally that the recruitment system should assess not only physical appearance but also intellectual abilities. For instance, if a soldier or police officer wears glasses, it’s fine, as long as he is intelligent,” he said.
This emphasis is an effort to address the increasingly complex challenges of defense and security in the future. Therefore, improving the quality and capacity of personnel becomes the President’s priority.
“The challenges ahead are hybrid warfare, drone warfare, and so on. That’s why Mr. President focuses on this issue. The current global situation also needs to be dealt with improving the professionalism of soldiers, both in education and training,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
