President Prabowo Ensures Safe Eid Homecoming Travel and Stable Food Supply Ahead of Eid al-Fitr

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of government preparedness in managing the annual Eid homecoming travel (mudik) flow while chairing a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday (03/13). In his opening remarks, the President delivered several directives to ministers and heads of institutions to ensure that all aspects of public services during the mudik period and the Eid al-Fitr holiday run smoothly.
The President instructed the Ministry of Transportation to ensure that transportation discount policies are implemented optimally. The policy includes fare discounts across various modes of transportation to help ease the burden on people traveling home for Eid.
“First, I instruct the Minister of Transportation to ensure that the discount policy is implemented as effectively as possible, including discounts on airline tickets, train fares, sea transportation, and toll roads, while also ensuring excellent service at every point,” the President said.
The President also called on the support of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the National Police to assist in ensuring smooth travel during the mudik period. According to the President, the facilities and resources of both institutions can be utilized to strengthen transportation support and security during the period.
On the same occasion, the Head of State also highlighted the importance of distributing social assistance ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He instructed the Minister of Social Affairs to ensure that additional food assistance for beneficiary families is distributed properly and reaches the intended recipients.
“The Minister of Social Affairs must ensure that the additional food assistance for 35 million beneficiary families in deciles 1, 2, 3, and 4 is delivered properly. Regular social assistance must also be ensured to be distributed on time,” the President stressed.
President Prabowo also called for the acceleration of priority government spending that directly addresses public needs, including the self-help housing stimulant assistance program. In addition, he emphasized that the holiday allowance for civil servants and the holiday bonus for online transportation workers must be provided on time.
“I instruct the Minister of Manpower, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Investment to ensure that the holiday allowance for all central and regional civil servants is distributed on time. Likewise, the holiday bonus for online transportation workers must reach them as determined, ranging from 400 thousand to 1.6 million rupiah per person,” the President said.
Furthermore, the President underscored the importance of improving the quality of public services at various transportation hubs such as rest areas, ports, airports, and railway stations. He also emphasized the need to prevent uncontrolled queues and to ensure stable energy supplies and communication services during the Eid period.
Regarding food security, the President also underscored the importance of maintaining stable food supplies and staple prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He therefore instructed the relevant ministries to ensure that food availability remains secure and that prices remain under control.
“I instruct the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, the Minister of Trade, and the Minister of Agriculture to ensure that food supplies remain stable and secure and that prices are kept under control,” the President stated.
At a time of growing global uncertainty, the President stressed that the government remains optimistic in facing various challenges. According to him, Indonesia has the strength to maintain economic stability and ensure that public activities continue to run smoothly.
“The world is full of uncertainty. We see crises affecting many countries. We must respond to these challenges, but the economy must keep moving and the people must remain calm. We still have the strength and capability to ensure that the wheels of life do not stop turning,” the President said.
In closing his remarks, President Prabowo instructed all ministries and institutions to ensure that preparations for Eid are carried out thoroughly so that the public can celebrate Eid al-Fitr in a safe, comfortable, and joyful atmosphere.
“To all ministries and agencies, I expect that preparations for Eid will be carried out properly. We must ensure that this year’s mudik proceeds safely, comfortably, and with great joy.
