President Prabowo Subianto officially launched the National Council for Financial Well-being (DNKK) during the National Coordination Meeting of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Teams (TPAKD) at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta on Thursday (10/22). The establishment of the council marks a shift in policy focus from access to financial services to family financial well-being.

The launch was marked by President Prabowo pressing a siren button, accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi, and Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti.

“By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, on this Thursday, October 22, 2026, with the grace of Almighty God, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby officially establish the National Council for Financial Well-Being,” the President said.

In his report, the Coordinating Minister explained that the institutional change from the National Council for Financial Inclusion was based on Government Regulation Number 42 of 2026. He said the policy’s scope had been broadened to address families’ overall financial conditions.

“The National Council for Financial Inclusion focused only on inclusivity, ensuring that people had easy access that made it easier for them to have bank accounts. But the President has shifted the focus toward family financial well-being,” he said.

He explained that the focus was set on families because they are society’s smallest economic units. This approach allows the Government to assess how financial services and programs benefit households.

“When we talk about the macroeconomy, the initiative launched by the President focuses on each family individually, because the family is the smallest economic unit in our society,” he said.

The Coordinating Minister also reported that, according to the Financial Services Authority’s 2026 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion, Indonesia’s financial inclusion rate stood at 93.61 percent, while financial literacy reached 69.57 percent.

He also noted that President Prabowo would chair the council, with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs serving as its executive chair. The council’s leadership also includes representatives from the Financial Services Authority, Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance, alongside several other ministers as members.

In implementing the policy, he said that the Government would focus on financial wellness, financial resilience, and financial security. He added that the Government had prepared a national strategy for family financial well-being. At the regional level, implementation would focus on strengthening financial literacy and expanding access to financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
