President Prabowo Extends Vesak Day Greetings, Calls for Unity and Harmony

 President Prabowo Subianto extends Vesak Day greetings to Buddhists in Indonesia commemorating Vesak Day 2570 Buddhist Era (BE), Sunday (05/31).

President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (05/31) extended his Vesak Day greetings to Buddhists in Indonesia and around the world commemorating Vesak Day 2570 Buddhist Era (BE).

“On this Vesak Day, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Government, wish all Buddhists in Indonesia and around the world a Happy Vesak Day 2570 Buddhist Era,” President Prabowo said in a video message broadcast during the peak commemoration of Vesak Day 2570 BE/2026.

The Head of State expressed hope that the spirit of Vesak would inspire all elements of the nation to continue fostering harmony as a nation and state.

“The spirit of this year’s Vesak celebration, under the theme ‘Dharma as a Source of Morality and Wisdom, Love as a Source of World Peace,’ should inspire us all to strengthen brotherhood, spread kindness, prioritize dialogue, and preserve harmony in our social, national, and state life,” the President said.

President Prabowo also underlined that Indonesia’s strength lies in its diversity, while stressing that all Indonesians share a common aspiration to build a better nation.

“Indonesia is a great nation because of its diversity. We come from different ethnic, religious, cultural, and traditional backgrounds. Yet we are united by the same aspiration: to build a peaceful, just, prosperous, and advanced Indonesia,” he added.

The President further highlighted the importance of maintaining unity and optimism amid global uncertainty.

“Amid the challenges of an increasingly uncertain world, the Indonesian people must remain steadfast in preserving unity and optimism. We must continue to work hard, support one another, and cooperate to achieve prosperity for all Indonesians,” he stressed.

In this regard, the President expressed belief that the values embodied in the Vesak celebration offer important lessons that can further strengthen the nation’s character.

“I am confident that the values of compassion, tolerance, and wisdom taught in Buddhism will further strengthen the character of the Indonesian nation as a people who uphold humanity and peace,” he said.

President Prabowo also invited all Indonesians to use Vesak Day as a momentum to reinforce national solidarity.

“Let us make this Vesak celebration a momentum to strengthen national brotherhood, deepen our dedication to the nation, and increase our concern for others,” he added.

To conclude his statement, the President expressed hope that the noble values of Vesak would continue to guide Indonesia’s journey of development.
