President Prabowo Subianto met with Indonesia’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Thursday (03/19).

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in his written statement that the meeting between the two national figures took place ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.

“On the 29th day of Ramadan, ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Thursday, March 19, 2026,” he wrote.

The Cabinet Secretary described that the meeting was held in a warm and familial atmosphere as part of silaturahmi (maintaining and strengthening relationships with family, relatives, neighbors, and fellow human beings) ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This moment demonstrated the values ​​of togetherness and unity among national leaders.

“The two national leaders engaged in a cordial gathering ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H,” Cabinet Secretary continued.

Also present at the meeting were President Megawati’s daughter, Puan Maharani, who serves as Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and President Prabowo’s son, Didit Hediprasetyo.

The meeting stood as a powerful symbol of the importance of maintaining national harmony and unity, especially as the nation prepares to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which emphasizes the message of returning to fitrah (one’s original purity and innate nature), strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, and reaffirming the spirit of nationalism.
