President Prabowo Greets Temporary House Residents in Aceh Tamiang Regency

President Prabowo Subianto inspects temporary houses in Aceh Tamiang regency, Aceh province, on Saturday (03/21).
After performing Ied prayer at Darussalam Mosque, President Prabowo Subianto inspected temporary house complex in Aceh Tamiang regency, Aceh province, on Saturday (03/21). At one of the houses, the President had a light conversation with Mrs. Nurita, a resident who lost her house due to flood occurred months ago.
“I have been living in this temporary house for about three months. Our house was fully damaged,” Mrs. Nurita said with trembling voice.
As a single parent who has been raising her children on her own, Mrs. Nurita is having the most difficult period of her life due to the flood. She admitted that she did not have time to save anything because the water came so fast.
“When it happened, we did not expect it. We thought it was just a normal flood. So, we did not bring anything from home. My son said, “do not bring anything, Mom. The water was flowing fast,'” she recalled.
After staying for a while on a bridge and emergency tents, Mrs. Nurita finally could stay in a temporary house. Although it is a modest house, she is grateful that she can live in a better condition at the moment.
“Since we live in this temporary house, alhamdulillah, we are now in a better condition. Alhamdulillah, thanks to Mr. Prabowo who has supported and helped us,” she said and added that President Prabowo’s visit meant so much to her.
During the moment, Mrs. Nurita also expressed her hope to have a permanent house, as many evacuees also hope for. To Mrs. Nurita, a permanent house is not only a place to live, but it is also a symbol of certainty in life after going through a post-disaster period. She is hoping that the Government can offer long-term solutions so she and all affected residents can build a new life.
Additionally, Mrs. Nurita also expressed her gratitude and good wish to those who have helped.
“To Mr. President, thank you so much. Also, to the people who have donated and helped us during the time of disaster, thank you so much. I wish good health to all the people who have helped us,” she said.
Mrs. Nurita’s story has portrayed the toughness of Aceh Tamiang residents in facing difficulties due to the disaster. However, behind the toughness, there is a simple hope that they could live a decent, safe, and certain life for the family’s future.
