President Prabowo Subianto hosted an open house at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (03/31).

The event was organized to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri and was attended by several key figures, including Vice President Gibran Rakabuming and his spouse Selvi Ananda, the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, heads of institutions, Red and White Cabinet ministers, and ambassadors from friendly countries.

Jusuf Kalla conveyed his well wishes to the people celebrating the holiday. He underlined that the occasion should serve as a time to strengthen relationships and unite the people for the advancement of the nation.

“We are certainly joyous, let’s improve our relationships, let’s unite to advance this country, let’s forgive one another and offer suggestions for the betterment of the nation,” said Jusuf Kalla.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto also shared a message, quoting the President’s statement that Eid al-Fitr is a perfect moment for forgiveness, mutual understanding, and strengthening cooperation. He stated that the celebration is not just about reconnecting with loved ones but also a symbol of family bonds that strengthen ties between leaders and the people.

“This Eid al-Fitr moment is a great opportunity for mutual forgiveness and understanding so that development can progress in a more familial manner. This is a wonderful example of family values set by the President alongside all elements of society,” said Brian.

In addition, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar shared that the open house event was a moment to get closer to the people. He also reflected on the deeper meaning of Eid al-Fitr, describing it as a fresh start for personal improvement.

“Eid is like a full month of cleansing. After Eid, we restart from the beginning, aiming for better self-improvement than the previous year,” Muhaimin said.

On another note, Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani expressed his appreciation for this open house tradition. He stated that the gathering is a valuable practice that should be preserved, as it provides a rare opportunity to strengthen national unity and foster closer ties between the Government and the people.

“I believe this is a wonderful tradition, one that should be preserved. It unites officials, the people, and ministers on a single occasion during Eid al-Fitr. This is our day of victory together,” he said.

The event was held in a warm atmosphere, reminding all attendees of the importance of togetherness and mutual understanding amid Indonesia’s diversity.

It is hoped that the bond between the Government, the people, and friendly nations will be further strengthened, inspiring a spirit of cooperation toward building a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia. (BPMI Setpres) (FI/LW)
