President Prabowo Inaugurates 204 New TNI Units during TNI’s 81st Anniversary Commemoration

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 204 new units of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) during the TNI’s 81st Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony. The ceremony took place at Prima Field, TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Monday (10/5).

During the ceremony, President Prabowo, acting as the Ceremony Inspector, read out the inauguration statement of the 204 new units comprising of units of the TNI Army, the TNI Navy, and the TNI Air Force.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning, Monday, October 5, 2026, by the grace of God Almighty, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate 204 new TNI units,” said the President.

Six Regional Military Commands (Kodam) become parts of the newly inaugurated units. The six Kodam are Kodam XXV/Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah in the Riau Islands, Kodam XXVI/Mataram in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Kodam XXVII/Sobe Sonbai in East Nusa Tenggara, Kodam XXVIII/Moloku Kie Raha in North Maluku, Kodam XXIX/Mambruk in Central Papua, and Kodam XXX/Rinambora in West Nusa Tenggara.

In addition of the six Kodam, the President also inaugurated 1 Parako (Para-Commando) II Pasgat (Quick Reaction Force) Division, 1 Marine Infantry Brigade, 1 Parako Pasgat Brigade, 30 Territorial Development Infantry Brigades, and 150 Territorial Development Infantry Battalions. Other new units include 3 TNI Army Combat Support Battalions, consisting of 1 cavalry battalion, 1 field artillery battalion, and 1 air defense artillery battalion.

The President also inaugurated 4 Marine Infantry Battalions, 3 Parako Pasgat Battalions, 2 TNI Air Force Air Squadrons, 2 TNI Air Force Radar Units, and 1 TNI Air Force Education Squadron.

Following the inauguration statement, President Prabowo pressed the siren button down. The moment was accompanied by a cannon salute from the Armed (the Field Artillery), officially marking the inauguration of the 204 new TNI units.

Afterward, the President handed over the batons and the new units’ insignias to seven representatives of the unit leaders, namely Major General TNI Aminton Manurung as the Commander of the XXIX/Mambruk Military Region, Major General TNI Drajad Brima Yoga as the Commander of the XXVI/Mataram Military Region, Major General TNI Rionardo as the Commander of the XXV/Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah Military Region, Major General TNI Thevi Angandowa as the Commander of the XXVII/Sobe Sonbai Military Region, Major General TNI Edi Saputra as the Commander of the XXX/Rinambora Military Region, Major General Dr. Nefra Firdaus as the Commander of the XXVIII/Moloku Kie Raha Military Region, and Colonel Harry Nugroho as the Commander of the Parako II Pasgat Division.

The presentation of each unit’s insignia was accompanied by a cannon salute from the Armed. The inauguration of the 204 new units was one of the main events of the 81st Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) in 2026, led by President Prabowo as the Ceremony Inspector.
