President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (06/11) inaugurated Indonesia Defense University’s Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus in the university complex, Bogor regency, West Java province, reflecting a commitment to strengthening inclusive and modern defense higher education with a national perspective.

Upon arrival at the university complex, the President was welcomed by the guard of honor and the university drum band along the road toward the inauguration venue.

The inauguration ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by a moment of silence to eulogize the services of national heroes. Afterward, a video showing the development planning and completion of the campus built on a land of 18.3 hectares was played.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed appreciation to the founders of the Indonesia Defense University, including Sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who had a long-term vision to pioneer an educational institution that advances the nation.

“Our sixth President, Mr. SBY, had a long-term vision. As a president, he thought about the nation’s future leaders. And for that reason, I suppose, we should be grateful and proud that today, the very initiator and founder of the institution is here for the inauguration,” he said.

Meanwhile, President SBY thanked President Prabowo for the Defense University’s sustainable development and expressed optimism that the higher education institution will create new patriots, thinkers, and strategists who master global developments.

“For the campus is present with a new spirit and energy. God willing, Indonesia will once again be a part of the solution and play a role in maintaining world order as mandated by the Constitution,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/MUR)
