President Prabowo Inaugurates Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT, Strengthens Jakarta’s Integrated Transportation Hub
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai Jakarta LRT Line at Manggarai LRT Station, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (09/16). The 12.2-kilometer line is expected to further strengthen public transportation services while supporting mobility for residents in Jakarta.
Upon arriving at Manggarai LRT Station, President Prabowo first received a briefing from Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung on the development and planned operation of the Jakarta LRT. Pramono explained that the project was fully developed by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a regionally owned enterprise, using the Jakarta Provincial Government’s budget.
“The Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT line is 12.2 kilometers long, with an investment of Rp12.1 trillion. Each trainset can accommodate 270 passengers, Mr. President, and once it is operational, it will serve approximately 80,000 passengers per day,” he said.
Pramono also reported on the special fare policy that will be implemented during the first eight days following the inauguration. During this period, the public will be able to use the Jakarta LRT service for a fare of Rp8 as part of the public outreach effort.
“I am confident that with eight days of public outreach, people will experience the comfort of using the Jakarta LRT,” he said.
In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the development and completion of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai Jakarta LRT Line. The Head of State also expressed his pride in the continued progress of Indonesia’s public transportation system, which has advanced gradually over time.
“Today is a very happy day for me. It is a day of pride that our nation continues to move forward in an orderly manner. It may not be a spectacular leap, but we are moving forward one step at a time, one step at a time. As was mentioned earlier, five, six, or ten years ago, who would have thought that we could have a transportation system like the one we have today?” President Prabowo said.
President Prabowo noted that the LRT further complements the various modes of transportation already available in the Manggarai area. The integration makes Manggarai one of the key hubs connecting various public transportation services in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.
“Here in Manggarai, we have the LRT, Electric Rail Train (Kereta Rel Listrik – KRL), TransJakarta, Trans Jabodetabek, and the airport train. This is becoming a transportation hub,” President Prabowo said.
President Prabowo then officially inaugurated the operation of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai Jakarta LRT Line. At the inauguration ceremony, President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno, and President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo Iwan Takwin.
“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. On this Wednesday afternoon, September 16, 2026, by the grace of Almighty God, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai Jakarta LRT Line,” President Prabowo said.
The inauguration marks a new chapter in the development of Jakarta’s mass public transportation system while reinforcing the Government’s commitment to providing increasingly integrated and affordable public services that deliver tangible benefits to the people.
