President Prabowo Subianto expressed heartfelt appreciation to all parties who contributed in the realization of the Integrated Service Building and National Neuroscience Institute during its inauguration in National Brain Centre Hospital (RSPON) Mahar Mardjono, Jakarta, on Thursday (8/26). On that occasion, the Head of State also paid a tribute to the late Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono, a renowned figure in Indonesia’s neurology field.
“I feel proud because I have the chance to know Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono personally,” said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo not only remembered Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono as a doctor, but also a fighter who took part in the war for Indonesia’s independence. “Back then, the medical faculty consisted of the brightest minds in the Republic. Many of them then became the leaders on the battlefield. Many doctors became commanders in Generation’45, many Generals were medical doctors,” said President Prabowo.
Besides the late Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono, the President also extended his appreciation to the related government officials for their success in establishing a world-class medical facility. He also expressed gratitude to the foreign partner for supporting the development of this medical facility.
“Thank you Minister of Health. Thank you Minister of Finance for the support. Thank you to all related parties. I also heard that there is contribution of foreign party, the Netherland government, thank you for your support for the development of Indonesia,” the President said.
Concluding his remarks, the President expressed optimism that RSPON Mahar Mardjono could become a world-class center of excellence in brain and nerve research. This is a source of pride and provides hope for improving healthcare services in Indonesia.
“We believe that this hospital, this research center, could become a center of excellence. From the report of USA National Institute of Health, I heard there we have representatives from the United States of America in this hospital, I feel proud of that. The USA representative also takes part in the research in this hospital, we should be proud of it. This is evidence that we have the capability to act at the highest global standards,” President Prabowo concluded. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/MUR)
