Indonesia will remain calm and focused on maintaining national stability amid rising global geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions, President Prabowo Subianto has stated.
Delivering his opening remarks at the 8th Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (08/06), President Prabowo reminded members of the Red and White Cabinet of the growing complexity of global challenges since the start of his administration.
“Now, we are not only witnessing the impact of wars across the globe, but also the devastating conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria, claiming countless lives before the eyes of the world. Women, children, tens of thousands of people are being slaughtered,” the President stressed.
President Prabowo also highlighted the rising tensions involving major powers in the Asian region, including within the ASEAN framework.
The Head of State reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting ASEAN’s role in promoting peaceful solutions.
“We will continue to support ASEAN in its efforts to find peaceful solutions for our neighbors,” he said.
Beyond geopolitical concerns, President Prabowo also addressed growing global economic uncertainty, particularly in relation to shifting trade policies.
He underscored that amid these complexities, Indonesia will maintain a calm and measured stance.
“We are also facing the global geoeconomic situation, the uncertainty triggered by tariffs imposed by the United States. We are facing this calmly,” the President remarked. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of Presidential Secretariat) (RIF/TM)
